Okay, as much as I understand how much you want to hold onto this guy, you have to let it go. Maybe not permanently, but at least for now. It sounds way too much like your trying to convince yourself that everything is your fault (when it's not) and that he is some knight in shining armor that has no faults. That is soo not the case. He ditched you as soon as you admitted to not wanting sex, he lied to get out of a date, and he called you all these terrible things. Whether you started it or not, a guy should NEVER disrespect you like that. You need to let him go. Just all at once, just drop him. It will get him thinking "huh, I wonder why she stopped calling..." and eventually, he will get curious enough to call you. If you dont give him the time of day, that only adds to the chase, and gives him a reason to keep calling. However, if he doesn't call, and doesn't keep coming back for you, DO NOT GIVE INTO HIM! That means he doesn't really care, and you absolutely should NOT contact him. He isn't interested. If you keep bugging him after he thinks he's made that clear, he will get aggrivated, and it won't be pretty. So, drop him, and only respond to him if he starts talking to you. As for your "overreacting" problem, try to remember that he is a guy, none of them are even close to perfect, and life isn't fair. Don't be too harsh. Your potential girlfriend, not his mother.
