Why would the Republicans want to cut the EPA to the bone?

Don't they know that the EPA protects the water we drink and fish from? Are they ignorant that the air we breath has to be protected from the greedy corporations that would gladly pollute it to make more money? The EPA protects us from harmful chemicals like DDT that are so harmful to any living thing? They keep our food safe by limiting the types of pesticides they can put on our farm products. They do a lot more as well. Why why why?
