How does DDT enter the food chain and make its way to the highter trophic level?

It doesn't anymore, since it was banned in the early 70s. But when it *was* used, insects would ingest it (as primary consumers); then, they were preyed on by secondary consumers, who were preyed on by tertiary consumers, etc.
